Andy Mott Pet Sitting Lutterworth

A university careers advisor is taking a leaf out of his own book and starting a new career.

Andy Mott, of Lutterworth, Leicestershire, launched “Pet Sitting Lutterworth” in February 2018.

Andy is no stranger to embarking on new career paths.  Having left home at 17, he joined the RAF where he worked in personnel.  He left the forces after 13 years, and spent the next 20 years in commercial recruitment.  The final 5 of these years were working within the Careers Services at De Montfort University and the University of Leicester.

As he hit his 50th birthday in December 2017 Andy decided to follow his dream vocation of working with pet animals.

“After working in an office for over 30 years I wanted a complete change and thought this was the perfect choice of career. Fresh air and pets. I should have done it years ago.”

The father of four, whose children have all flown the nest, has always had pets in his life, and currently has a Double Doodle dog.

“I love cats and dogs,” he said. “They seem to always settle with me, they are as comfortable with me, as I am with them.”

He and his wife Angela also have a 17-year-old cat who is blind and toothless.

“The poor thing has kidney problems also, so this job allows me to spend more time with her and give her the best of what life she has left.”

“We picked up our own new puppy Millie in Feb 18. She has really developed into a great dog. Hopefully when she stops wanting to play constantly she will join me in some of the walks.”

“With this new career I will get to look after other people’s dogs and cats and give them the care and attention they need and deserve.”

In his new business Andy will be offering a wide range of services to local pet owners including dog walking, dog let outs, cat sitting, pet taxi and small animal boarding for caged animals, like hamsters and rabbits.

He is fully insured and has a clear DBS check.
